What motivates writers to put pen to paper or compose from their computers? What inner Muse or Muses inspire their work? What makes for the alluring yet sometimes arduous and nuanced romance writers have with words and their power to communicate and shape reality, to change viewpoints and sometimes transform lives?

Six distinguished writers of local and national prominence -- academics, intellectuals, activists -- will share their perspectives on the motivations for their writing; some will read excerpts from their own work. Join us, starting 2 September, every other Wednesday this Fall (except a break between 30 September and 21 October due to Fall Break) for Sage Wednesdays at 12:15 at Sage Chapel.

Not a worship service, more than a lecture, Sage Wednesdays allows for the expression of a public philosophy and public theology and consideration of the personal pursuit of meaning and purpose. Speakers and music starting at 12:15 p.m. will alternate with the recital series 'Midday Music for Organ,'starting at 12:30 p.m. on Sage Wednesdays. There will be refreshments provided on all Sage Wednesdays.
